During the weekend I had to play in the VHF Field Day from home due to suffering with a chest infection. Preparation started Friday night when I got a spurt of energy and decided to setup the cheap Conrad rotator, I picked up on ebay on the mast which supports the 6m 2 element HB9CV. This was completed and working by 21:30 when I had a nice QSO with Dick G8DER in IO92hf.

Saturday arrived and I had to just setup the logging program, I decided to use Win-Test because I prefer the interface and know how it works! At the start of the contest I started on 6m and within first 10mins worked stations in IO92, IO91, JO01 after that it did slow down but was pleased to pickup a new square when I worked GW2OP/P in IO71OP who was also best DX on this band.

2m was also a struggle with only 9 QSOs although I wasn’t active all the time and missed Sunday due to sleeping! However I did manage to work GW2OP/P (IO71) and also TM2K (JO10) and ON4WY (JO11) and the usual IO91, IO92, JO02 but found activity seemed low but this could have been down to the very wet weather!

70cm turned out to be the worse band with a total of 2 QSOs these where G3VER/P (IO91) and G3PYE/P (JO02) apart from these two stations I didn’t hear anyone else on the band.
